Weisenbach Recycled Products releases newly patented Snap and Pour® Spout made of 100% recycled plastic to make handling oil efficient, safe, and green.

March 28, 2011 - Columbus, OH

Weisenbach Recycled Products recently received a new patent for its lock-on spout that allows spill-free pouring of liquids. The unique design fits most bottles and jugs on the market. Not only does it make pouring easier and cleaner, it protects the watershed by preventing the pollution that can occur when toxic or caustic liquids are spilled. They are useful in automotive and industrial maintenance to handle both new and used oils, lubricants, antifreeze, and other fluids.

Snap & Pour SpoutIn addition to its functionality in preventing pollution, Weisenbach multiplied the product’s positive environmental impact by making the spout from 100% recycled plastic. Recycled plastic products save oil and consume 1/3 less energy in production versus virgin plastic.

The sustainability of this innovative product really glows green when the type of waste plastic that Weisenbach uses comes to light. The spouts are made entirely from plastic bottle caps. Conventional recycling programs do not accept plastic caps and instruct consumers to discard them. So the durable #5 plastic ends up in the landfill, or worse, littered into the environment. The plastic does not break down, but devolves into smaller pieces that eventually make their way into streams, rivers, and oceans. Those bits of plastic are often mistaken for food by birds and marine life. They ingest the plastic, or feed it to their young, resulting in death.FitFill Spouts

Not accepting that a material "Can't be Recycled", Weisenbach embraced the challenge of turning the waste plastic into a commercially viable and useful product while tackling the problem of a component of disposable packaging that is one of the most littered items in the environment.

Weisenbach developed a market for the product and co-branded a version of it for sale in the world's largest retail chain, setting the stage for future recycled product demand and fulfillment. Increased sales of recycled products allow the company to continue to research and develop new products and new methods to further support its customers green initiatives.

Developing markets for these highly effective pollution prevention products is a primary focus for Weisenbach. Calculated projections for 2011 to recycle more than 30,000 pounds of waste plastic.
